The SENSITIVITY area develops a sensitive and considerate relationship with nature and people.
This is a base area for development of responsible behaviour. It is a prerequisite for pupils’ interest in the world (nature, people and society) and for the ability to relate to it in a sensitive manner. The area affects our stances, values and conduct. Developing this area points pupils towards perceiving that nature is the foundation of our world and that we are a part of it, all the while striving to develop pupils’ sensitivity of their own being, human society, and the relationships they create. We work with the supposition that people around the world have similar needs and that cultivating relationships should be the cornerstone of every society.
SENSITIVITY is developed mainly by facilitating direct contact with nature and people while carefully guiding the process of reflecting on the experiences.
At school, various methods of learning outdoors, senses activities, experimental learning activities, discussions with people from outside school who have some sort of story or history, etc. can be utilized. Involving research skills, team skills and developing social skills and communication techniques contributes to developing sensitivity. In case of working with active learning methods, developing sensitivity can be included in all education areas and subjects.
