Six areas of competence for responsible behaviour are further divided into files, lines, and aims (see table Nomenclature Used in Individual Areas of the Continuum). Aims differ based on various degrees of understanding, utilising skills, and forming a stance. The established set of aims comprise the development continuum. The continuum serves as a tool for teachers which presents a thought-through overview of knowledge, skill and stance aims which lessons should be targeted towards. Teachers gain a wide spectrum of aims, which are important to develop in each area, and at several levels.
